Celebrity Philadelphia chef Susanna Foo will not stand trial on charges she hit a Parking Authority officer who ticketed a delivery truck outside her center city restaurant.
Foo has been approved for a special six-month probationary program (and community service of cooking lessons), after which the case will be expunged -- it will disappear from her record with no admission of guilt.
Defense attorney Richard Sprague:
"She is innocent of what she was accused of. The end result is the case is being withdrawn. It is being dismissed. If I was representing any of you and you had charges against you, instead of having go to trial and having all the delays and uncertainties, and knew the case was being dropped, I think all of you would agree that is a good deal."
But the case may not be over. Sprague says Foo will probably take civil action against the Parking Authority and the officer who was allegedly struck (see related story).
