A center city couple accused of stealing the identities and money of neighbors to live a lavish lifestyle is now free awaiting a preliminary hearing in February. The actual size of this case - the number of victims and money loss is still not known - and the defense attorney acknowledges authorities could make a federal case out of it.
Police sources say they are still identifying victims. Charges so far go to just two victims but police have identified several others and there could be more, possibly leading to additional charges.
And federal authorities have been assisting in the investigation.
Defense attorney Ronald Greenblatt represents defendant Jocelyn Kirsch.:
“I'm sure the feds are already looking at this case. I have no doubt that they will. Anytime you have identity theft some cases go federal and some cases stay in the state.
Kirsch, her head down and her sweatshirt pulled down over her face when she was released yesterday, had no comment.
