Police Make Huge Drug Haul in NE Phila.

by KYW’s Mike DeNardo

Philadelphia police are showing off a multi-million dollar drug stash they seized after a shooting Friday in Oxford Circle.

This is one of the largest drug busts in the city this year: more than $6 million worth of cocaine. The coke was found in a suspected stash house in Oxford Circle on Friday night after a shooting, possibly a drug deal gone bad.

Police found 25-year-old Darnell Bolger shot and wounded on Levick Street, a block from his home.  Police made the decision to go inside Bolger's house (right) to see if there were other shooting victims, and that's where they found 61 kilos of cocaine, in addition to crack, marijuana, and several handguns.

Chief inspector William Blackburn says investigators also found $176,000 in cash:

"This was a stash location.  For the most part if drugs were being sold out of this location, it was to an elite clientele, and in large quantities of drugs."

Bolger was being treated at Frankford Hospital for his wounds. He faces conspiracy and drug charges.

He reportedly is not cooperating with detectives, who are trying to find out who else may have been involved in the drug operation.  The FBI has joined in the investigation.
