Keeping Your Tree Fresh Through the Holidays

by KYW's Fran Sorin

Keeping your Christmas tree fresh for the duration of the holiday season is easy if you know what to do. Here are some simple tips to help.

If you can’t put the tree up immediately, leave in a cool place such as a garage or porch.  Make a straight one inch cut off the bottom of the tree and place it immediately in water.

A tree drinks up a tremendous amount of water. Place in a stand that holds at least a gallon of water and check water level every day.  Additives such as aspirin or sugar are unnecessary.

Keep your tree out of bright sunlight and away from heat sources as well as away from drafts. If your tree is properly cared for, it can last for up to 5 weeks.
