A collision between a tractor-trailer and an SUV resulted in a massive back-up Wednesday morning on the Schulykill Expressway westbound, approaching the Valley Forge tolls. For a couple of hours all traffic was required to exit at Route 202. Then around 9:15am, the lefthand express lane was opened for access to the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
The tractor-trailer flipped onto its left side and the SUV behind it burst into flames. No injuries were reported. Firefighters quickly controlled the fire.
The Schuylkill Expressway was backed up westbound from the Blue Route to Route 202. There were also eastbound delays as drivers watched the accident scene, and during the cleanup process.
