Suburban Slots Parlors Prepare for Test-Betting

by KYW’s Tony Romeo

Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board officials say Philadelphia Park is on track to test its slot machine operations in less than two weeks. The track’s temporary casino could open to the public within hours or days afterward.

Gaming Control Board attorney Maureen Williamson says it won’t be long now before more than 2,100 slot machines spring to life in Bensalem:

“We’re looking at proposed test nights for Philadelphia Park for December 17th and 18th, and provided over the ensuing weeks that the property comes into shape and we have the required connectivity with the central system, we will proceed with the test nights on those nights.”

But don’t circle those dates on your calendar unless you’re one of those chosen to receive an invitation for the testing, the proceeds from which will be given to charity.

Williamson says Harrah’s Chester Downs casino is expected to conduct its test nights in mid-January.

The Gaming Control Board is to decide which two applicants will receive licenses for standalone casinos in Philadelphia on December 20th.
