Old House Gardens Heirloom Bulbs

by KYW's Fran Sorin

I know, it’s hard to believe, but if you want to have your chance at purchasing some unusual heirloom bulbs for your summer garden, now is the time to order them.

One of the top sources for heirloom bulbs is Oldhousegardens.com.  They offer a plethora of rare heirloom bulbs, some pricey and others moderately priced.

One of my favorite moderately priced ones is Wyoming Canna, which was ranked by the beloved English gardening guru, Christopher Lloyd as one of his all time favorite cannas.

It has rich, dark bronze foliage and sunset-orange flowers that are 3-5 feet tall. It is 101 years old and is originally from Oklahoma.

They also offer a huge range of dahlias. It is worth treating yourself to at least a few of the rarest ones, regardless of the price.
