Philadelphia police say they have busted a significant marijuana grow site operation that posed a catastrophic danger to residents of one of the city’s most visible and exclusive condo addresses. The operation was inside a leased condo unit.
Police say two suspects were growing marijuana inside a 10th floor unit inside the Dockside Condos on South Columbus Boulevard, the one that looks like a ship, and Chief Inspector William Blackburn says this operation was similar to one that caused a fire and killed two city firefighters in 2004:
”He was risking a catastrophe by having these high intensity lamps, these transformers, these generators. This was a very potential dangerous situation that could have occurred at that complex.”
Police seized over 30 pounds of pot plants and packaged marijuana worth over $70,000. Police say a tip or tips from others in the building led to the discovery. Police say they have arrested one man and another arrest is expected.
