In Gloucester County, NJ, the hunt is on for thieves who have been stealing expensive holiday ornaments from front lawns while homeowners are asleep.
There have been reports of a rash of thefts in areas in and around Glassboro, Elk Township, and other sections.
Police are not sure if the thefts are the work of thieves who resell the items to make money, a sick prank, or despicable vandalism.
Nearly 24 expensive lawn decorations -- some worth as much as much as $200 each -- have been taken while homeowners were sound asleep, leaving only scattered electrical wires:
“I had a Santa on a chopper and two 6’ snowmen.”
Residents of the area are understandably upset. So far there've been no arrests and none of the decorations have been recovered.
Patrols throughout the Gloucester County area are being extra vigilant.
