Classes were interrupted at two Montgomery County schools Wednesday. Soudertown High School was locked down after a note referencing Columbine and Tuesday's incident at Springfield Township High was found, then Springford High School officials discovered a written bomb threat in a bathroom. One of their students now stands charged.
"We are not going to tolerate this kind of behavior."
So Springford School District Superintendent Marsha Hurda worked with police to find out who wrote a note claiming the school would be "blown to dust." Dr. Hurda says she hopes this incident sparks conversation between parents and teens:
"I think parents need to talk to their children about making these kinds of threats. You can't write a note and leave it somewhere and assume as if people are not going to respond to it as a serious threat."
Limerick Township Police chief William Albany says a 16-year-old Royersford junior admits she wrote the note:
"Making terroristic threats, making a bomb threat and threatening the use of weapons of mass destruction and risking a catastrophe. These are all misdemeanor and felony charges."
