City Council was holding its first regular meeting Thursday since Mayor Nutter was sworn in, and you'll see some council members reviving legislation that went nowhere under Mayor Street.
City Councilman Jim Kenney tried twice under Mayor Street to push a bill that would ease the residency rules governing city workers, and twice, he says, Street blocked it:
"Hopefully the third time's a charm, because this will be the third time I'm introducing it."
Kenney is re-introducing a bill that would eliminate the requirement that you have to have lived in the city one year just to apply for a city job. Kenney says Mayor Nutter may be on board:
"Hopefully we can change this, because the administration has indicated support, and we hope we can do this across the board."
Also, Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown is reviving a bill that would require tour guides to pass history tests, that bill also died last year.
