They'll keep looking, but Philadelphia city officials say they have lost the file related to the assessment of Pennsylvania state senator Vincent Fumo's mansion in Fairmount.
Fumo (in file photo above) is selling his 27-room mansion for a cool $6 million. The house is assessed at only a quarter-million dollars, and tax reform advocates wanted to see a file related to Fumo's appeal in 2003 that led to that assessment.
But it seems now that the Board of Revision of Taxes can't find the paper file, according to spokesman Kevin Feeley:
"We moved heaven and earth to try and find the file, and we're still trying to find it. It may turn up at some point in the future. It's not as though there was anything nefarious, despite any intention to suggest that. It simply got lost."
Feeley says the BRT treated Fumo like any other citizen in the 2003 appeal.
The state senator is selling his house to pay legal bills for his upcoming corruption trial (see related story).
