Milton Street Fraud, Tax Evasion Trial Set to Begin
|
|
by KYW's Tony Hanson
Jury selection is underway in the federal fraud and tax evasion trial of Milton Street.
Milton Street allegedly used his name -- and name and position of his brother, Philadelphia Mayor John Street -- to get lucrative contracts totaling over $2 million.
And John Street is a potential witness -- likely for the defense -- during the trial. Specifics about his possible testimony have not been disclosed.
Authorities have said there's no evidence John Street did anything to aid Milton Street and his alleged illegal activities.
Milton Street has denied the allegations. He has called the charges "politics," and denied he had $2 million from any source.
It's not clear whether Milton Street will take the witness stand in his own behalf.
