This tax season, college students in Montgomery County are helping low-income residents file their tax returns.
Students at Temple University’s Ambler campus have been trained to help low and moderate income families file their state and federal taxes. Accounting to Professor Steven Balsam, it's a win-win situation. Taxpayers get free help and the students practice their skills:
“It's volunteer work. It's community service. It looks good on their resume. They also get certified to do taxes, which looks great on their resumes. But I think it's great practical experience. They get to work with clients and do tax returns and they get to learn how to deal with people. They get to learn how to get tax returns.”
Help is available from 9am-Noon on Saturdays through April 5th.You can call for an appointment at 267-468-8352.
