A new students' group is using the Internet to drum up support which would allow college students to carry concealed weapons. But locally, it doesn't seem to have much support.
The new group is called "Students for Concealed Carry on Campus." But in a random sampling at Drexel University, not one student was in favor of allowing carrying concealed weapons:
"No one should be fearing, for Drexel student to take matter into their own hands is really unnecessary."
"That's just asking for more violence."
"I don't believe anyone should have concealed weapons. Students are idiots, we're all still children, I dont think many of us are very mature, I don't think it would be a very good idea."
The pro-gun group cites recent shootings at Northern Illinois University and Virginia Tech as reasons to support carrying concealed weapons.
SCCC claims to 16,000 members nationwide. For more nformation, go to www.concealedcampus.org.
