Nutter to Host City Hall Reception for TV Finale of ''The Wire''

by KYW's Mike Dunn

Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter is apparently a big fan of the HBO series "The Wire," and he'll be marking this weekend's series finale in a big way.

"The Wire" brings its fifth and final season to a close on Sunday night, and Mayor Nutter -- a big fan -- (in file photo above) has decided to invite friends and family to watch the episode in the mayor's reception room. This is city representative Melanie Johnson:

"We're going to have a reception first, a Q&A afterwards, (and) of course the screening of the final episode. And we've invited some of the actors from 'The Wire' to attend."

Were any of the actors confirmed to attend?

"Yes! Only one so far -- Wendell Pierce."

HBO is loaning a big-screen TV for the event. Johnson says half of the 100 tickets will be given out to the public.
