Montco Man Busted for Allegedly Selling Counterfeit Kicks

by KYW's Brad Segall

A Montgomery County clothing store owner faces numerous charges accused of selling fake Nike shoes out of his business in Souderton.

Detectives purchased sneakers from Street Wear on Main Street after getting word from Nike that the store might be selling counterfeit shoes.

Police seized more than 100 pairs of Air Force and Air Jordan sneakers and arrested 28-year-old Justin Coale.

District Attorney Risa Ferman says it’s important to prosecute these kinds of cases:

“When consumers go into a store expecting to buy a pair of Nikes they expect a particular quality of product.  When they purchase these fakes -- and that’s what they are, they are just fakes -- they’re not getting that quality of product.”

Coale told police he bought the sneakers from various contacts in Manhattan but wouldn’t reveal who was putting the fake sneakers into the pipeline.

Coale also was charged with selling counterfeit compact discs at discounted prices.
