Supporting The Phillies in Life, Then in Death

by KYW's Tony Hanson

The Phillies opener is a week from Monday and for true Phils fan, your undying support doesn't have to end with death.

A Michigan company has a licensing agreement with Major League Baseball to provide team themed caskets and urns, and the Philllies are among the first team products to be offered.

Eternal Image CEO Clint Mytych says the Phils caskets and urns have been very popular with over 50 Phillies urns already sold and dozens of Phillies caskets on preorder for delivery in the future:

"We have people buying our baseball urns that are still in their 30s and just think it's cool and they want it in their home because they want it to be the urn they go into. We have heard stories of people who already have a loved one in an urn in their house, but they like our urn better so they are buying a baseball urn for their loved ones's favorite team and having the funeral home transfer the remains from the old urn into ours."

Eternal Image offers other licenced products, ranging from the Vatican Library to Star Wars, and pet associations.
