Delaware Valley residents on a flight to Mexico over the weekend are talking about their harrowing experience -- on what was, for a time, a captainless plane.
For Steve Sweeney and the other 209 passengers on the Continental flight from Houston to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, this certainly was not another 'buckle up' announcement:
"The co-pilot came over on the loudspeaker saying that the -- asking if there was a doctor on board. After about maybe 10 to 15 minutes, they asked if there was a pilot on board."
Officials in McAllen, Texas, where the co-pilot made an emergency landing, say the pilot died from an apparent heart attack.
Although the airline says the passengers were never in danger, Sweeney says it was scary to see a skipper of small planes volunteer to help pilot their 757.
"My wife was really nervous, because my daughter is getting married in June, so she said, 'Oh, we're not going to make the wedding! We're not going to make the wedding!'"
