Guardian Angels to Patrol Phila. Subways

by KYW’s Jim Melwert

Expect to see the red berets and jackets of the Guardian Angels on the SEPTA lines. Beginning Sunday morning the group will patrol SEPTA trains and platforms.

Guardian Angels National Founder and President Curtis Sliwa says they're taking action after Sean Patrick Conroy was killed Wednesday on a SEPTA El platform at 13th and Market Streets:

"We intend on having a daytime presence on the SEPTA system also to be patrolling it's platforms, the concourses and the areas in and around the SEPTA stations."

Sliwa says the Guardian Angel patrols will focus on the hours between 2pm-4pm as schools are letting out.

No immediate response from Philadelphia Police or SEPTA, but Sliwa says the Guardian Angels have had a good working relationship in the past with Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey.
