Colder Weather Means Higher Bills, PGW Warns

by KYW's Mike Dunn

PGW customers are starting to get bills that reflect the return to normal winter temperatures over the past few weeks -- and that may mean a bit of sticker shock.

PGW spokesman Doug Oliver says the warm temperatures in December and the first part of January may have prompted complacency among those who may have trouble paying:

“This winter, as weather has been warmer than normal, there’s a portion of our customer base who probably wasn’t receptive to some of the messages about available programs and conservation tips and those sorts of things.”

That complacency will probably end as bills reflecting chillier temperatures start to arrive.  So PGW is sponsoring free conservation workshops through the end of February -- and attendance may go up now that the temps are down.

A workshop schedule is at www.pgworks.com.
