A Fantastic Final Four, and Some Repair Work in the Phillies' Bullpen

by KYW's Bill Campbell

It didn't the Phillies long to add another pitcher, did it? The bullpen implosion on opening day sounded the bell.

That they didn't hear it sooner is rather amazing, and Jamie Moyer could be another consideration. It will be interesting to see what happens when Brad Lidge arrives.

And how about the Mets? No Pedro Martinez until maybe mid-season. The name of the game continues to be pitching.

But this is Final Four weekend in San Antonio, and this time the NCAA potentates got it right. They managed to get the best four teams into the Final Four. College football should be so lucky.

Under the present format, this is the first time that all four #1 seeds have reached this stage. Of course a George Mason, or in these day's tournaments a Davidson, would have added some spice. We'd all admire and cheer for the underdog.

But these four teams should produce some terrific basketball. They have all paid their dues, they all play good defense, and they're all well coached.

Among them, they've won 143 games. They all deserve to be here. It should be a Final Four to remember.
