Lights! Camera! Philly! Philadelphia is playing host to movie crews this spring and there's more to come over the summer.
Hooray for Philly-wood, as movie makers are finding Philadelphia more and more to their liking.
Sharon Pinkenson, executive director of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office, says the influx of shoots is due largely to state tax credits approved last summer that only now are clicking:
"With the Writers' strike, it really slowed down the immediate effect that we were going to have as a result of these tax credits and now that that strike is resolved we're rushing to get a bunch of movies made before the actors go on strike."
That's just a possibility still. "Dream of the Romans" has been shooting. 'Tenure", "Happy Tears", and "Marly and Me" are upcoming as is Transformers II. But won't giant robots wreck the place????
"Ha, ha. Let's just say the destruction part is going to be digitally enhanced."
Otherwise, there goes the neighborhood.
