Most people have outdated stereo equipment, computers, cell phones and other stuff filling up their space. Now, a cable TV channel is giving consumers the option of recycling that stuff without dumping it in the trash.
It's called g-cycling, and it was conceived by the creators of G-4, the cable channel devoted to all things electronic. Neil Tiles, President of G4, explains what it's all about:
"Our goal collectively is to increase the awareness and the actual participation by our viewers in recycling their e-waste which is things like cell phones, printers, anything that's electronic gadget related."
He says G4's audience is predominantly young males who are tech savvy. He says properly recycling those tech items is the key.
Consumers can go to www.gcycle.org type in their zip code, and the site will lead people to a recycling location near them.
Tiles says there is no financial benefit to the network, but there is a tremendous benefit to the planet.
