Wednesday night's Democratic debate between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama was prompting street closures around the National Constitution Center (read related story) in Center City Philadelphia. The restrictions are in effect from 10am through 1am on Thursday.
The Philadelphia police department is asking drivers to avoid the area of the National Constitution Center if possible when the street closures are in place. Lieutenant Frank Vanore is with Police Public Affairs:
"The streets that will be affected are 6th Street to southbound traffic in the 100 block of North 6th Street will be closed completely. Eastbound traffic in the 500 block of Race will be limited to one lane. There's going to one lane that is going to be partially taken up and closed. And the intersection of Sixth and Callowhill will be limited to bridge traffic only and other traffic will be diverted."
Vanore says additional closures could take place if warranted.
