Pennsylvania Governor Rendell (file photo above) is dismissing Republican complaints about the amount of time he spent on the campaign trail for Hillary Clinton.
Stephen Miskin, spokesman for the state House Republican leader, says at issue is the extent to which Governor Rendell worked for the Clinton campaign. Miskin says Rendell became, in essence, a Clinton “super staffer”:
“He became Senator Clinton’s chief strategist, chief scheduler, chief surrogate, chief fundraiser, and it was almost 24 hours, seven days a week, for five weeks.”
Not so, says Governor Rendell:
“Let me start off by saying that over 75 percent of my appearances with or appearances for Senator Clinton took place on weekends and evenings.”
The Governor says he has done a “ton” of economic development work, and would have canceled any appearance during the campaign to meet with legislative leaders on state business. But Miskin says for five weeks, being governor become another side job for Rendell.
