These are tough times for some golf courses, so it's nice to open the season on a positive note.
After being shut down for 31 months, they'll start teein' it up Monday morning at the redesigned Rock Manor in Wilmington.
"It's certainly a world of change from what was here in the past. Totally renovated by the Lester George design team. You've got beautiful greens, bent grass, rye grass fairways, all new tee boxes, and it is really an upscale golf experience now."
That's Alex Elmore, regional vice president for Billy Casper Golf Management, which is operating the facility. They've set rates in the $40-60 range, with discounts for Delaware residents.
Rock Manor GM Steve Brady says there's very little left of the old "Rock":
"There's only one hole similar, hole #1, which is formerly #9. It is a great design now with four sets of tees, measuring anywhere from 4,800 yards to 6,400 yards. And it's going to be playable for players of all levels."
Golfers driving along I-95 have been watching this new design take shape and grow in. Starting Monday at 10am, they can check it out with clubs in their hands.
