Well, it only took me a few days to break my New Year's golf resolution of no negative self-talk on the course. That was back on a mild January day.
But I have promised to quit obsessing on my scores this year, and try to have more fun on the golf course -- to simply enjoy the journey, no matter what the game brings that day. We'll explore some ways to do that in golf reports this spring and summer.
On the equipment front, the buzz this season is about interchangeability: driver head and shaft combos that you can change right on the practice tee with a wrench-type tool. Callaway and Taylor Made are leading the way among the OEMs, and I'm currently testing an aftermarket version (well, somebody has to do it). So, we'll also hear about that in the coming weeks.
Another season also brings a new crop of golf balls, and more advances for the under-$20-a-dozen group. There are some amazing balls at that price point -- like the Top Flite Gamer -- that measure up very well against the pro-line balls, even in their green-side behavior.
We have a lot of ground to cover. But first, I'll just try to get through another golf weekend without calling myself something a lot worse than...
