Merchants along South Street in Philadelphia are rolling out their annual effort to drum up more restaurant business.
This is the third year for ''Eight Days of Eats," but this time the event that offers three and four course meals for a flat fee of $30, comes in the midst of what many economic experts are calling a recession. Still, South Street Head House District executive director Dave Hammond isn't concerned:
"I think the people in the surrounding area in the South Street corridor are a little more insulated from the economy downturn than perhaps other areas of the city."
More than 100 restaurants are taking part in "Eight Days of Eats," which runs through next Wednesday.
