Philadelphia fire officials on Tuesday morning were investigating a fatal pre-dawn house fire in the University City.
It broke out near 39th Street and Powelton Avenue just after 4am and was declared under control about 20 minutes later.
One person was trapped and had to be rescued. When firefighters got to the victim, they found he had no vital life signs.
Paramedics rushed him to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he was pronounced dead.
