Police Hunt for Nicetown Gunman in Deadly March Attack

by KYW's Jim Melwert

Philadlephia police have named a suspect in a March shooting in which a man was shot and killed in front of his young son after he answered a knock on the door in the middle of the night (see related story).

Police allege that 19-year-old Amin Ingram went to the door of David Adkins' Nicetown home around 2am on March 1st.  Philadelphia police captain James Clark Jr. says that when Adkins, 43, answered the door, Ingram shot him:

"Shots are fired, he's down on the ground.  Several more shots are fired, and ultimately he's killed."

Clark says that not only did the shooting happen in front of the victim's six-year-old son,  but also, after Ingram killed Adkins, he reached down and took something from the dead body.

Ingram's last known address is on the 4200 block of North Hicks Street.

Clark says the search is citywide, but they believe that Ingram is in North Philadelphia.
