West Oak Lane Home Invasion Leaves One Dead

by KYW's Jim Melwert

Police were hunting for two men Friday night, after a robbery and shooting at a West Oak Lane home earlier in the afternoon.

The two men apparently forced their way into a house on the 200 block of Fariston Drive.  They took the victim down to the basement, demanding drugs, guns, and money, according to Lieutenant Frank Vanore of Philadelphia police public affairs.

"During the course of this robbery, they shoot this complaintant several times and he is pronounced dead shortly there after."

It's unclear if the victim knew the two robbers, but Lt. Vanore says it is possible.

The men were both describes as being in their 30's, about 6-foot-one inch tall, one weighs about 180, the other around 220.  One had braided hair and a beard.

Anyone with any information is asked to call homicide at 215-686-3334.
