Analysis: A Taste of McCain vs. Obama?

by KYW’s special contributor Larry Kane

A war of words continues between the two likely presidential candidates but it began with an unlikely debater.

It was a wondrous thing to watch. John McCain may have felt underwhelmed by the Thursday and Friday mini-war.  First of all, President Bush made references in a speech in Israel to people in America who would appease terrorists likes some tried to appease Adolph Hitler.

Barack Obama, wary of 2004 attempts to diminish John Kerry, struck out hard against the
President calling the comments dishonest. Obama also took a swipe at what he called the politics of fear.

John McCain was left out of the debate until he got into the act late Friday targeting Obama for being reckless.

This is the first time I’ve seen autumn campaigning in May, but we do learn one thing -- Obama will not sit back and take attacks without retaliation. And McCain does not want to be watching the president behind his back, and dominating his news space.
