'Girls Rock Philly' Looks for New Guitar Heroes

by KYW's Karin Phillips

Applications are being accepted for the summer camp that teaches girls to rock out.

Philadelphia's only rock camp for girls - Girls Rock Philly - is taking applications for its second summer camp August 4th through 9th.

GRP provides girls age 9 through 17 years old get a chance to learn guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, DJ'ing and vocals.

Camp director Beth Warshaw-Duncan says the female only atmosphere is a rarity in the music business:

"It's really rare to find women playing music together without the influence of a guy putting it all together, without a guy in the control room putting it all together, mixing it or telling you what to play, or taking you along for the ride if you're a woman."
