A North Jersey man is out on bail after allegedly trying to bribe two employees at the Law School Admissions Council for the LSAT test.
Kevin Siangchin, 30, of North Plainfield, had taken the Law School Admissions Test twice and failed -- so this time, Bucks County district attorney Diane Gibbons says, he tried something different:
"He just figured, ‘How do I do better on this test? I know, I'll go buy a copy.‘ And that's what he was trying to do. It sounds humorous -- it is in a sense very humorous because he is just so stupid."
Gibbons says Siangchin started by putting envelopes, containing $100 each, on the cars of the employees at the LSAC office in Newtown, Pa. Workers contacted police and set up a meeting.
"He went into the McDonald's in Middletown, and then we went into the McDonald's in Middletown. We had an undercover officer, a detective who pretended to be the Russian employee who he had contacted, and he handed over $5,000 for the test. He was surprised that he was handcuffed -- and then asked for his $5,000 back after he was arrested, ironically enough."
Siangchin posted 10 percent of his $100,000 bail and was released.
