An Ardmore-based organization helping women with breast cancer has gotten the biggest donation ever from another locally-based group.
The money from the National Philanthropic Trust of Jenkintown to Living Beyond Breast Cancer is huge, says LBBC CEO Jean Sachs. It's $750,000 a year for three years, where the previous high donation was $100,000, and Sachs says it amounts to about a third of the new budget:
"We want to do more to reach medically underserved women, so it includes young women, because they sort of fall out of the typical group that is diagnosed with breast cancer, women living with advanced breast cancer as well as African-American women, Latino women, women who don't have access to health care."
LBBC's goal is to empower its clients to live as long and as well as they can after the life-altering diagnosis. To learn more, go to http://lbbc.org/.
