Here are a few tips when traveling with your pet. Before venturing out in the car with your dog, first make sure he is considered to be in overall good health by your vet and is up to date with all vaccines. It’s extremely important that he has identification at all times such as a microchip or an ID on his collar.
Be sure to adequately walk your dog before you leave and make frequent stops as need be along the way. Do not feed your dog immediately before leaving to avoid car sickness.
Always bring along a supply of fresh water, his food bowl, a leash, some treats, his usual supply of food, a blanket and a favorite toy. For safety, bring along his carrier or have him comfortably fitted in a car restraining harness that acts as a seat belt. Never let him roam freely in the car, it can be fatal in an accident. It doesn’t hurt to bring along first aid bandages too. And never ever leave your pet unattended in the car in warmer temperatures.
Buckle up and have fun as you hit the road with your best friend!
