''Mamma Mia,'' July 15-27th at the Academy of Music

by KYW's Stasia DeMarco

The "Broadway Series at the Kimmel Center" presents the smash hit musical "Mamma Mia," at the Academy of Music, beginning July 15th.

Anne Ewers, president and CEO of the Kimmel Center, explains how important the music by the band Abba is when it comes to telling this story about love, family, and friends:

“Actually, one of the prerequisites in the mind of the producer was that the songs, the text had to stay exactly as we know it.  And so they created a story in which that text, in which this incredible music, would fit naturally. And it does.”
