A Gloucester County, NJ woman has entered a guilty plea to state charges of lying about the levels of lead in a daycare center she had operated.
Jaclyn Biddle, 30, of Williamstown, used to own the Children’s First Learning Center in Mantua, NJ. In 2005, private tests for lead dust came back above permissible levels.
But that’s not what she told the state, according to New Jersey deputy attorney general Edward Bonano:
"She submitted a report to DYFS (Division of Youth and Family Services), which she was required to do, showing the premises were lead safe."
Biddle has pleaded guilty to a single count of recklessly creating a risk of widespread injury or damage -- a fourth-degree crime for which she is likely to get probation and a fine.
The daycare center went out of business almost a year ago. Attempts to contact Biddle were unsuccessful.
