An overturned tanker truck has shut down a portion of I-95 in PhiladelphiaAn accident has shut down a portion of southbound I-95 in Philadelphia at Academy and Woodhaven Road. The northbound lanes have reopened.
Pennsylvania State Police say a tanker truck carrying ethanol overturned after the truck's left front tire deflated and the driver lost control. Police say the driver received moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital. There was no immediate word on his condition.
Authorities say the rig was traveling north on I-95 early Saturday when the tire deflated, causing the rig to cross two lanes of traffic and strike a guardrail before rolling over. Police say hazmat crews contained a small ethanol leak and planned to off-load the remaining ethanol before up-righting the vehicle.
Motorists traveling south on I-95 should exit at Woodhaven Road and go south on Route 13, then get onto Academy Road to return to I-95.
