Mayor Street is less than pleased that a new book about homeland security offers a hypothetical terrorist attack on a packed Philadelphia stadium.
The book, called The Edge of Disaster, is by Stephen Flynn, a senior fellow and national security expert at the Council on Foreign Relations.
Flynn argues that the country will inevitably face another huge terrorist attack. And he offers a chilling Philadelphia scenario in which terrorists target the Sunoco refinery, causing toxic fumes to drift over Citizens Bank Park packed with Phillies fans.
These kinds of detailed scenarios make Mayor Street a bit uneasy:
“They ought to be qualified in a way so that they’re not calculated or likely to create any kind of panic in Philadelphia, New York or any other cities.”
And Street believes Flynn’s scenario doesn’t reflect the current state of security at the refineries.
