Law Enforcement Officials Urging Boycott of ''25 To Life'' Video Game

by KYW’s David Madden

A new video game seems to be quite popular, but not with law enforcement. Officials, including the Delaware County District Attorney, are urging parents to think twice about letting their kids play “25 to Life”.

District Attorney Mike Green had a hard time finding a copy of the game to rent just to demonstrate it at a press conference attended by more than a dozen police chiefs. The game allows players to be a drug dealer or a cop, going after opponents with lethal force.

“In the case of the drug dealers, using deadly force against law enforcement while at the same time taking innocent bystanders hostage and using them as human shields.”

Green is also calling on adults to sign an on-line petition supporting a boycott of the game.  The manufacturer, Eidos, notes the game is rated Mature and claims it is, quoting a statement, ”well within the standards set by today’s contemporary media”.

You can access the on-line petition by going to www.nleomf.com/25tolife.
