Camden, NJ teenagers hit the streets this summer, helping their neighbors register to vote.
The teens work with the STARR program at Rutgers Camden -- Sports Teaching Adolescents Responsibility and Resiliency -- and with the important presidential election approaching, the teens are canvassing the city of Camden, registering some 170 voters.
Robert Atkins is an assistant professor of nursing at Rutgers and co-founder of STARR. He says the teens also:
"Provide education about where the polling places are and why people should go out and vote."
Fifteen-year-old Michael Olano:
"The first week I was kind of nervous, but once we kept on doing it, it was pretty easy."
Thirteen-year-old Obdoulaye Bah:
"Some people gave us like, you're doing a good thing for the community."
