Red Cross to Raise Money at Pocono Raceway

by KYW’s Karin Phillips

This Sunday, the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway will have a new name and will benefit all Red Cross chapters in the region.

Pocono Raceway has teamed up with the Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania and Sunoco to organize the Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 on Sunday at Pocono Raceway, which will benefit Red Cross chapters in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey.

Denise Venuti-Free is Senior Director of Communications for the Red Cross:

“When people buy tickets to the race, ten percent of the proceeds benefit disaster operations for Red Cross chapters throughout the tri-state area - provided they use the REDCROSS promo code - and that can be done either online or by calling the 1-800-RACEWAY phone number.”

Benefits coming to this area will go straight to the Red Cross House, a short term residence in West Philadelphia for those recovering from fires, floods and other disasters.
