The Newstudies Program
Every year since 1968, KYW Newsradio 1060 has given high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to learn about the inner workings of a major market radio station with the Newstudies program.
Students come to KYW Newsradio on six Saturdays to learn news writing, reporting, ethics, and interviewing skills from station managers, editors, reporters and anchors, and guest speakers, then research, write, and record news stories about their schools and/or communities.

2006 Monetti Scholarship Winner
The Newstudies student who demonstrates the most potential and enthusiasm receives the $2,000 Richard Monetti Scholarship award.

The scholarship is awarded in memory of Richard Monetti, a Newstudies 1986 graduate who was killed in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, in 1988.

2006 Drucker Internship
One student was named recipient of the Mark Drucker News Internship, an opportunity to work in KYW Newsradio's actual newsroom for the summer -- a paid internship working alongside news professionals including reporters, editors, anchors, and the KYW news director.

The internship is named in honor of KYW reporter Mark Drucker, who passed away in 2005 at the age of 48.
