The other shoe has dropped in the wake of last week’s eight-alarm fire in a Conshohocken apartment complex. A class action lawsuit has been filed on behalf of residents.
Currently five plaintiffs are on the document filed in Montgomery County Court. Lawyer Robert Mongeluzzi expects hundreds more of the displaced residents to join in. The main issue is the alleged negligence of the developers, builders and managers of the Riverwalk at Millennium complex. Exhibit 1: the cause of the fire has been listed as a welder's torch being used in the adjacent construction site:
"Using a 3,000 degree assetaline torch in a forest of wood construction products is like using matches in a barn full of hay."
Furthermore, says Mongeluzzi, there were no fire plans at the construction site, no fire stops in the inhabited buildings and no attic sprinklers which to his eye, would have been required.
