Dogs, just like people, love their snacks and treats. And food treats are a great training tool as well. Most dogs are highly motivated to learn new behaviors when a tasty treat is the prize. So it’s important to make sure that what you’re giving them is healthy.
Dog cookies are wheat or flour based. They usually contain healthier ingredients and may be lower in fat too. Plain crunchy biscuits without dyes or coloring are a safe choice too, especially for dogs with sensitive stomachs. And although most dogs love chewy snacks, limit their intake because chewy snacks can stick between teeth and can cause problems later.
Always read the labels and avoid sugar and artificial ingredients. Dogs love fresh and fruit veggies occasionally like baby carrots or apple slices. But remember: only a bite or two once in a while, so as to avoid constipation or diarrhea. Always avoid grapes and mushrooms.
Stay away from all people treats, especially chocolate and onion at all times for both dogs and cats, as it becomes extremely toxic.
