National Liberty Museum Honors Young Heroes

by KYW's Karin Phillips

The National Liberty Museum has honored 50 young people from around the region and named them local heroes.

Just before he appeared to speak at the Young Heroes awards ceremonies at the National Liberty Museum, Michael Kuch, a former Lost Boy of Sudan, had stepped off a plane from Australia where he had been reunited with his mother and other members of his family after more than 20 years.

The reunion was in part thanks to Harriton High school student Joshua Millan who heard about Kuch's plight and wanted to help:

"I talked to my teachers at school and we decided to host a hunger banquet at our high school to raise money to send him there to fulfill his dream."

To Kuch, Joshua is a Young Hero.

"It's amazing to know that he came up with that idea and to realize it, to be able to put it into practice and make it possible to me to reunite with my mother."
