What police are calling a possible hoax had officers and special teams in Delaware County busy for most of Monday.
Superintendent of Tinicum Township police, Walter Fife, says a man made a couple of calls, claiming that he had a cache of weapons and that he was willing to do something with them. The man claimed he was at the Renaissance Hotel near the Airport, but he was never found and the room he claimed he was in was empty:
"There were several questions that were asked of him that led us to believe it was a possible hoax. We asked him to look outside room and tell us what color railing he had and he said it was one color but it was actually another color which was the opposite of what he said."
Fife says this is an unfortunate waste of manpower. He says if the man is found, he will, at least, face charges of falsifying reports.
