Local Reactions to Palin's RNC Speech

by KYW's Pat Loeb

Some Philadelphians made a social event of watching Sarah Palin's acceptance speech. KYW's Pat Loeb visited one local bar, where the TV was tuned to the convention.

Employees at the Society Hill hotel reluctantly turned up the volume so patrons could hear Palin's speech.

Three men sitting at a ringside table gave her speech good reviews:

"I think she was bold and I think she's a force to contend with."

"I feel like she's being real, so it's easy to listen to her."

"I think it put my mind at ease as to her experience."

But a group of women at the bar were much tougher:

"I think it seems like Republican business as usual really."

"I think the speech was very carefully crafted, but I think she's actually wrong. When she was talking about taxes that got me riled up."

"It's just amazing to me that a nominee for vice president would insinuate that you're a baby for insisting that you have your rights read to you when the entire constitution is based on that. The whole thing was just insane to me."
